The short version

Teams often reach for identity because they want to understand a journey. In many cases, the useful boundary is smaller: what happened during one visit or one short reporting window?

Short-lived context can connect a pageview to a page action without becoming a permanent profile. It answers product questions while placing a natural limit on what the system remembers.

Good defaults make that limit visible. Context can expire, aggregate, or disappear without requiring the team to manually clean up a personal history.
